William "Bill" Byron Whitley

William "Bill" Byron Whitley passed away on August 31, 2026, at the age of 71. He was born on October 31, 1954.

Bill was a graduate of LSU. He worked at Bayou Steel in LaPlace, Louisiana, and at the Cargill Grain Elevator in Reserve, Louisiana. He also found great joy in time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were a special part of his life.

He is survived by his daughters, Janette Whitley Naylor and her husband, Paul, and Taylor Whitley Arnold and her husband, Justin. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Samuel, Christen, Morgan, Autumn, Avery, Hailey, Reese, and Maddox. Bill is further survived by his mother, Martha Sue White Whitley Posey, and by his siblings, Bobby Whitley and his wife, Joanie, Suzanne Whitley, and Tommy Whitley and his wife, Jackie.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Byron Whitley.

Bill will be remembered with love by his family and by all who knew him. His life was marked by his dedication to his work, his LSU education, and most of all by the love he had for his family. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

A service to celebrate his life will take place at a future date with details to be announced.
