William "Billy" Stelly, a resident of St. Amant, Louisiana, born February 20, 1944, passed away on June 3, 2024 in Maurepas, LA, at the age of 80. Billy was a hard-working and strong willed man. He was the provider and protector for those he loved. He was kind, generous, and loving to anyone and everyone he met. Billy served in the National Guard of the United States from 1963-1965. He retired at the age of forty-nine as a welder from Freeport McMoran. He was LSU sports biggest fan and enjoyed watching all sports throughout his life. He loved cooking and indulged in all of the sweet and savory joys of this beautiful life. When his daughter, Stephanie, was born he decided to settle down and sell his Nissan 350z sports car and his motorcycle. Around the age of seventy he surprised us all and purchased a scooter to relive his younger days of owning a motorcycle. He always stayed young at heart. In his late life he took joy in reading Louis L'amour books. Billy is survived by his wife of 30 years, Connie Stelly; his daughter, Stephanie Stelly; his son, Josh Babin; his grandson, Silas Carubba; his special sister-in-law, Joycelyn "Tut" Barden; his sister, Carol Doucet; his brother, Simon Stelly; and his life-long best friend, Wayne Ritter.
