William Henry Maranto

“Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Luke 23:42.

William “Will” Maranto, beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, died peacefully on July 29, 2026. 

He was a resident of Baton Rouge, a proud graduate of Redemptorist High School; a cover-corner on the school’s championship football teams; a History major at LSU; and a lifelong member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church. His knowledge of rock bands of the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s was encyclopedic. The support of a needy child in Central America was a secret charity for all his life. For three decades, he bravely coped with disabilities from an inherited disease. 

He is survived by his daughter, Kelley Maranto Knost; grandchildren, Mason, Braedan, and Rebecca; great-granddaughter Rae; and brothers Robert and Sam. 

Preceded in death by his parents, Bende Maranto and June Miller Maranto; stepfather, James Gayden Perkins; and brother, Michael Maranto. 

Funeral services are pending at this time. 

Will’s family wishes to express their thanks to the physicians and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, who attended him during the last weeks of his life; to Dr. Joseph Cefalu and Dr. Joseph Albergamo; and to the Baton Rouge Clinic Coumadin Clinic; to those who cared for him in his last days at The Crossing Hospice; to lifelong friends David Landry and Guy Arceneaux; and to his niece, Misty Maranto Davis, for all her work on his behalf in his last days. May God, who began the good work in Will, now bring it to completion.
