"I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race and kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day..."
Wilford Paul “Fee” Hamilton, Jr, of Baton Rouge passed away on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the age of 90, surrounded by family. Born to Billie Larguier and Wilford P. Hamilton, Sr., July 19, 1935, Fee was one of five children. His family descended from Isadore Larguier III, an original settler of Baton Rouge. Fee graduated from Baton Rouge High School in 1955 where he lettered in football. Fee attended Southeastern Louisiana University before joining the United States Army. During his service, Fee trained as a dental technician and practiced at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Washington DC. As a civilian, Fee excelled as a top performing sales representative for the Sylvania Lighting Division of GTE. He served as president of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, eventually retiring as South Central District Manager.
A boating enthusiast, Fee served as president of the Pontchartrain Yacht Club. He lived life to the fullest whether captaining his yacht from Lake Pontchartrain to Florida through south Louisiana’s rivers and waterways or piloting his plane. All who knew Fee’s kind, loving, generous spirit and quick wit loved him. A born comedian, Fee loved to make people laugh, entertaining all with his outgoing personality and his own infectious laugh. However, Fee was always happiest when entertaining or visiting friends and family. Fee was a devout Christian and longtime member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, where he will be lovingly laid to rest.
He is predeceased by his parents Billie Larguier and Wilford P Hamilton, Sr; daughter Holly Jordan Hamilton; grandson Brennan “Brody” Blavier; brother John Burgoyne “Jack” Hamilton; sisters Mary Sue Bolen and Sarah Hamilton McDill. He is survived by his loving wife Linda Dee Hamilton, (dba Dee Davitt Hamilton); bonus daughter Piper Elizabeth Davitt Vance and husband Stewart Earl Vance of Montgomery, AL; bonus son John Tyler “Ty” Davitt; four bonus granddaughters Sailor Dansby Vance, Georgia Elizabeth Vance of Montgomery, AL, Sarah Haden Sabye (Joseph) of Birmingham, AL, and Townsend Vance Bessonen (Alex) of Mobile, AL; two bonus great grandsons Miles Townsend Sabye and Miller Tullis Bessonen. Also left to mourn his passing, are his youngest sister Martha Hamilton Weaver of Seabrook, TX; nephew and Godson Jack Hamilton and wife Julia Pickford Hamilton of Rocky Point, NC; a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews; and his long time housekeeper and friend, Consuela Hampton.
The family wishes to thank At Home Care of Louisiana for providing Ms. Tammy Young, certified nurse assistant, for her loving care. Heartfelt thanks go out to physicians Steven Troy Gremillion, Gerald Miletello, Mahesh Basirody, PA Judson Jones and the critical care team at Our Lady of the Lake. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, February 25, at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 12663 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, visitation 5:00 PM, service 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice in Fee’s honor.
