Wayne Joseph Oubre, age 81, of Gramercy, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, after a short battle with Leukemia.
He was born on January 22, 1945, in Gramercy, LA, to Nolan Oubre and Verlin Zimmer Oubre.
A lifelong resident of Gramercy, Wayne served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War, working as a mechanic in the United States Army. He continued that work throughout his Life, dedicating many years to his trade with skill and pride.
Wayne had a deep love for old cars-especially El Caminos—and could often be found listening to Swamp Pop music, something he truly enjoyed each day. He will be remembered as a beloved father, grandfather, and brother—a man known for his kindness, patience, and quiet sense of humor.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Emmagene Johnson, and his parents.
He is survived by his daughters, Rexann Roussel and Tina O'Bryant (David); his grandchildren, Kurt "K-Boy" Roussel, Jr., Robert Alvin Roussel, Jordan Keith O'Bryant, Katy Nicole Roussel, and Joshua Michael O'Bryant; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Nolan "Buck" Oubre, Jr.; and his sister, Sue Schexnayder.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
