Born January 29,1943 in Memphis, TN left this world for eternal life on September 9, 2026 in Gonzales, LA

Brother Wayne served our country for three years as a paratrooper in the United States Army. After his time in the service he learned the trade of welding, was the owner of a cleaning business, then in 1975 God called him to be a Pastor.

He attended Clark Jr. College in Newton, MS, went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Louisiana College in Alexandria, LA and went on to achieve his Master's Degree in Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Brother Wayne was a pastor for over 40 years. He served as pastor at Montequt Baptist Church in Montegut, LA , Trinity Baptist Church in Sulphur, LA, Cloutierville Baptist Church in Cloutierville, LA, Roxie Baptist Church in Roxie, MS, Little Caillou Baptist Church in Little Caillou, LA, and First Baptist Church in Gramercy, LA.

Brother Wayne enjoyed reading his Bible and having morning devotions with his wife. He had a passion for fishing, gardening and golfing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially all his grandchildren. He also loved fellowshipping with his Christian friends and church family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Hall Elliott, his mother, Frances Flora Elliott, his sister, Barbara Ellen Cook and his brother, James Marion Elliott.

Brother Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Shirley Rodrigue Elliott, his brothers, Richard Louis Elliott and Walter Reed Elliott; his son, Timothy Lee Elliott; daughter, Cynthia Marie Ancelet (Donny) and his grandchildren, Brittany Faith Elliott, Joshua Daylan Hoffpauir (Alexis A. Hoffpauir), Donavan Cade Hoffpauir (Alexis J. Hoffpauir), Katelyn Grace Hoffpauir; and seven great grandchildren.

Pall bearers will be Joshua Hoffpauir, Donavan Hoffpauir, Jonas Williams, Mark Michel, Donald Ancelet, and Jim Lilly. Honorary Pall Bearer is Newton Coupel.

Visitation will be held at New River Baptist Church in St. Amant, LA on September 14, 2026 from 9:00 am until service starting at 11:00 am. Burial to follow in New River Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to New River Baptist Church in his honor.
