Wanda Louise Vaughn

Wanda Louise Vaughn was born November 5th, 1932 as the youngest of eight children in a large farming family in Lilbourn, Missouri. She lived her full childhood in Lilbourn and graduated from High School there. She married Bill S. Vaughn while he was serving in the U. S. Army. During his time of service, he fought on the front lines in the Korean conflict. When he was discharged, they returned to Lilbourn and started their family. Eventually, they moved to St Louis, Missouri. She enrolled in college to become a teacher but discovered that her studies prevented her from spending quality time with her small children. She then opened a dog grooming business in her home and later a flower shop to be available for her family. She did all kinds of crafts. She made porcelain and cloth dolls, stained glass, and sewing. She even tried her hand at taxidermy. Anything she set her mind to do, she did it with excellence. She was a courageous woman with deep convictions and a hunger to know God and His word. She attended New Life Pentecostal church in St Louis for many years until they moved to Louisiana and started farming. They attended The First Pentecostal Church in Denham Springs. She went back to school in her 50’s and became a LVN. She worked at many different places with her nursing degree, to name a few, the woman’s prison, the leprosy colony, and the deaf school. She and Bill began to purchase and manage rental property. When Bill’s health declined, she took over the business responsibilities while faithfully making sure that he received the best physical care. After Bill passed away, the real estate investment company continued to grow. She was a faithful and devoted wife to Bill and a loving and caring mother to her three children. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha Lewis; sisters, Helen Benthal, Dona Tinsley, and Omigene Brower; brothers, George Lewis, Nathanial Lewis, William “Dub” Lewis, and Charles Lewis; and her husband Bill S Vaughn. She is survived by her three children, Donald Vaughn and Jill of St Gabriel La. and Michael Vaughn and Laura of Denham Springs and Pamela Pugh and Terry of Odessa Texas. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren left to cherish her memory. Services will be held December 29th 2022 at the First Pentecostal Church in Denham Springs, 1020 S Range Avenue. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00. The funeral service will be at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
