Violet Knesel Minor, a motherly, kind, caring and graceful lady, returned to eternal rest with our Lord on May 4, 2026, with her daughters by her side. Violet, born April 13, 1936, was a devoted mother and grandmother. She left an indelible mark on all those who had the privilege of knowing her for her tenacity and determination to overcome challenges and make every day special and will continue to inspire those she left behind.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family: Bonnie Minor Mills (husband Richard C. Mills), Charlene Marie Minor, Janet Minor Herrera (husband Angel C. Herrera), and Gail Lynn Minor.

She was the proud grandmother of Danielle N. Herrera, Mark W. Martin, Evan M. Mills, Bradley C. Herrera, Steven M. Minor (wife Camille C. Minor), Eric J. Mills, Brandon M. Herrera and Michael A. Morelli (wife Jessica T. Morelli). Five Great Grandchildren and One Great-Great Grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.

Violet was preceded in death by her loving parents and siblings: her father Harold G. Knesel, mother Delores W. Knesel; brothers Brother Martin Harold Knesel, O.S.B., monk of St. Joseph Abbey, Gerald J. (Jerry) Knesel; and sisters, Doris K. Lumetta, and Joan K. Gibson.

Violet’s greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother. She showered her loved ones with unconditional love and care and her tireless dedication to her family was exemplary in every way.

Violet had a green thumb and a passion for gardening which offered her tranquility and joy. Her lush garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit and love for nature. Her beautiful blooms brought happiness to her and to all those who had the chance to admire them.

Kindness, loving, nurturing, patience, courage and resilience are the qualities Violet exemplified in every aspect of her life. She was always ready to help others and lent her wisdom in the practice of lending a hand to those in need. Her mantra of generosity and kindness extended beyond her family and into her community, impacting everyone she crossed paths with.

A Memorial Mass in honor of Violet’s life will be held on May 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Abbey Retreat Chapel, 75376 River Rd, St Benedict, LA with Visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Violet will be interred with her beloved mother at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery immediately following. A reception will follow at the Retreat Center.

This gathering will be a testament to the love and admiration that we all held for this truly special soul. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will shine brightly in the hearts of those she loved and who loved her in return.

Violet will forever be cherished and missed. Her life was a lesson in courage, kindness, and unconditional love. She was a beacon of light in the lives of many, and her spirit will continue to guide those she touched long after her passing. Rest in peace, our beloved Violet, you will forever be loved and missed.
