Verlane Marie (Aucoin) D’Antoni, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026. She was born on April 10, 1942, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to LeRoy and Lurline Aucoin, the first of six children. Baton Rouge was her lifelong home where she was raised and built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others.
She graduated from Saint Anthony Catholic High School and retired from First Student, EBR Schools System. She devoted her time to helping others, baking, and entertaining family and friends. She loved antiquing, thrifting and spending time with those she cherished most, especially her great-granddaughters, Amelia and Sadie. She spent many years as a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and cherished the friendships it brought into her life.
A devoted animal lover, she always had a cat or dog by her side. Her most recent fur companion, Casper, never left her side and provided her with constant comfort and unconditional love.
Verlane is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, George D’Antoni; children, Dana (Waylan) Guidry, Cynthia D’Antoni, Cheryl (Barry) Smith, and Bryan D’Antoni; grandchildren, Jaime (Brandon) Melancon and Lane Mason; and her great-granddaughters, Amelia and Sadie Melancon; brother, LeRoy (Karen) Aucoin Jr. , sister Pamela Johnson and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Lurline Aucoin; sister Sandra Roberts; brothers Phillip Aucoin and Jon Aucoin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m.
Pallbearers with be LeRoy Aucoin Jr. , Waylan Guidry, Barry Smith, Brandon Melancon, Chad Aucoin and Matt Johnson. Honorary pallbearer will be Lane Mason.
Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
