Eleanor Stenberg Cryer rested from this life on July 27th, 2025, at 93 years. Born in Duluth MN, January 5, 1932, then raised in Slottsbron, Sweden from age 2 to 15. She spent her childhood days in the woods or on skis in winter and with extended family at the summer house on the lake. She came by boat, with her parents, through Ellis Island New York, Feb 24, 1947. They eventually settled in Baton Rouge, LA where she graduated from North Highlands.
She met and later married Fred Cryer in 1951. She worked as a typist and payroll clerk at the old Heidelberg Hotel in Baton Rouge, until she became a mother. She left her job to be a homemaker and gardener. In later years she and Fred bought a shrimp boat, named it Ms Ellie and had the time of their lives. She loved to cook for family and friends and host them on “The Porch”. She was known for her hobbies of needlework and painting.
She leaves to honor her memory, 2 son’s and their wives Larry and Marsha (Williams) Cryer, Freddy and Paula (Mire) Cryer, Brother-in-Law Morgan “JR” Cryer, beloved nieces and nephews who knew her as “Aunt Blondie”, Swedish cousins especially Berith (Lennart Frykgård), Billy (Eva Klarqvist) Bert Olov (Inger Holmgren), Tommy (Annelie Holmgren) Gun-Britt (Goren Dahlqvist), Margareta (Ingemar Ohlsson), Siv Klarqvist Petterson and Longtime neighbors and friends especially Keith and Shellene Blount and Dennis Neal.
Preceded in death by her husband Fred Cryer and parents Anna Lisa Larson Stenberg and Axel Harry Stenberg of Örebro, Sweden.
Visitation will be at First Pentecostal Church of Denham Springs on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with a memorial service.
