Tryve Gabriel Brackin

Tryve Gabriel Brackin passed away on Thursday, April 11th, 2024, at the age of 76. He was born and raised in Baton Rouge. Tryve was an LSU journalism graduate and served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He then embarked on a 35-year career with the Plaquemine’s Post South, where he served as a general editor, sports editor, sales representative, and photographer. Tryve also joined Georgia Pacific as the marketing director and stayed through the Georgia Gulf Corporation transition for 21 years. 

 

Tryve was known for keeping up with friends and family regularly. Every year of his retirement, he spent countless hours reviewing music and compiling the perfect playlists for friends and family. He was a wealth of information regarding movies, music, and sports. 

 

He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew Brackin and his mother, Evelyn Lunsford Brackin. He is also preceded in death by his cousin, Jesse Lunsford. 

 

Tryve is survived by his daughter Lindsay Brackin-Duncan, son-in-law Josh Duncan, and granddaughter Adelynn Duncan. Also survived by his cousins Edith Lunsford of Texas, Bob and Lyn Lunsford, Charles Lunsford and wife Kathy Thompson, Justin and Jacqueline Lunsford, children Abigayle and Isabelle Lunsford, Ben and Heather Lunsford, children Layla, Miles, and Nora, Erin and Michael Donnelly, children Cullen and Quinn, Duncan and Becky Bridewell, and John and Renae Bridewell. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
