Tommy J. Scioneaux, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend—known to most as "Hambone"—passed away on April 3, 2026, at the age of 61. A man defined by a tough exterior and a kind soul, Tommy approached his final days with the same grit, courage, and steadfast faith he showed throughout his life. His family and friends will long cherish memories of his endless tall tales; whether he was cracking jokes with the morning crowd or deep in the woods, Tommy was a master of the "big story" that grew with every telling. Despite his immense strength and a hard-fought journey, his heart was unable to sustain him any longer. He now rests in peace, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and family and friends that will forever carry his vibrant spirit.
A true outdoorsman, Tommy was an avid hunter who lived for the season, but also deeply enjoyed his time spent fishing. He found his greatest joy in the quiet of nature and the rowdy company of those he loved. He never met a stranger and was a natural comedian, always ready to share a laugh.
Most mornings you could find him at the Gator Corner where he would enjoy his signature breakfast of two biscuits broken into his coffee and eating the soggy results, usually served with a side of tall tales and his signature wit.
Tommy is survived by his daughter, Lindsay (Josh); his cherished grandchildren, Anna-Kate (Taylor), Abbigale, Jaxson, and Peyton; and his great-grandson, Colson. He is also survived by his siblings, Gina Vedros (Rudy), Dell “Rock” Scioneaux (Melissa), Shelly Hernandez (Tim), and Tracy Gaudet (Sandy); his sister-in-law, Kimberly Scioneaux; and his nieces and nephews, Tabitha McCrohan, Samantha Moses, Lundey Scioneaux, and Misty Gaudet. He also leaves behind his great-nieces and great-nephews who will miss his stories and humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Shirley Scioneaux; his siblings, Cheyenne Scioneaux and Sheila Bourque; brother-in-law, Woody Bourque; and his niece, Michelle Vedros.
Services will be held Friday, April 10, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Paincourtville, LA. Visitation will take place from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest in the family tomb.
Tommy had a big heart and was generous to a fault. With a radiant smile that could illuminate even the darkest room, he was a man who lived to make people laugh and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
