Thurman Joseph Tanner

Thurman Joseph Tanner, born in Gonzales and resident of St. Amant, passed away at his home on Monday, March 6, 2023 at the age of 87.  Thurman was a Mason with New River Lodge # 402.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and all things outdoors, including fishing and hunting.  Thurman is survived by his wife, Tiny Tanner; son, Byron Tanner; grandchildren, Bambi Tanner Helmke (Derek); Wayne Tanner, Jesse Tanner; Erin Tanner Rousseau (Austin); 4 great grandchildren; his favorite daughter-in-law, Gwena Tanner.  He is preceded in death by his 1st wife, Dorothy Tanner, sons, John and Arnold Tanner; parents, W.H. and Nettie Tanner.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, afternoon at Sorrento Baptist Church from 5:30 pm until 8:00pm with Masonic services to take place at 7:00pm.  Visitation will resume at Sorrento Baptist Church on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 9:00am until service time at 11:00am.  Burial to follow at New River Baptist Church Cemetery in St. Amant.   Church Funeral Services of St. Amant entrusted with arrangements.
