Terry Lee Witt, 77, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2024, at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice. Born in Plaquemine, LA, he was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas “J.T.” Witt and Vivian Mae Carlin “BB”. He lived a life marked by service, compassion, and technological brilliance. A proud Navy veteran, he dedicated a part of his life to serving his country with honor and distinction. He lived his latter life helping others by becoming a moderator for the Nightscout Facebook group, where he made a profound impact on the lives of diabetic children around the world, particularly those using the Medtronic pump. His work in this community demonstrated his intelligence and computer-minded approach, which many relied on for support and guidance.
He was preceded in death by Cheryl Diane Rogers Witt, with whom he had three children: daughters Tammy Meunier and the late Amy Lynn Witt, and son Jason Kennard Witt. He later found love again and is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ducote Witt, and her daughter, Carrie Aillet. He devoted “Paw Paw” to his grandsons Dalton and his wife Hannah, Blake, Dane, Chandler, Davis, Gunnar, and Cullen, and granddaughters Kelsey and Mina. He also cherished his great-grandchildren, Cole and Jade, who brought immense joy to his life. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind a legacy of intelligence, and relentless drive to help others. His contributions to the diabetic community through his work with Nightscout group have touched countless lives and will be remembered by many.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in Terry’s memory, continuing his commitment to supporting those living with diabetes. Terry Lee Witt’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him and the countless individuals he helped throughout his life. Arrangements have been made through Church Funeral Services in Baton Rouge. Memorial services for those who would like to attend will be held on May 30, 2024, at 11AM at Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W. Mount Pleasant Zachary Rd., Zachary, LA 70791 225-654-1988.
