Terri Lynn Sanchez Leggion “Mama T”, 68, of Gonzales, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026.

She was the embodiment of love. Known by many as the kindest soul, Terri carried a gentle spirit that touched everyone she met. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she held a deep love for God and Jesus. Above all, she loved her daughter deeply.

Terri spent much of her life caring for children. She worked at Gonzales Middle School and later co-owned A Child’s World Daycare (now known as Sprout). Loving and protecting children came naturally to her.

Terri leaves behind her daughter, Kristi Leggion Anderson, and son-in-law, Cody Paul Anderson, as well as Kayla Marie Anderson, who she loved as her own.

She is also survived by her mother, June Carpenter Sanchez; her siblings, Kathy Jones (David), Patti Hebert, and Michael Sanchez (Kelli); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Terri shared a special bond with her aunt, Sheila Lemmler (the late Phillip), and her cousin and dear friend, Darla Gautreau, both of whom held a meaningful place in her life.

She is preceded in death by her father, Ira “Blackie” Sanchez; her paternal grandparents, Felician “Pete” and Carrie Gautreau Sanchez; her maternal grandparents, Paul and Alma Bateman Carpenter; Paran Harold Carpenter, Sr. (Carol); her uncle, Nolan Sanchez (Gail); Uncle Paul Carpenter (Ozile); her aunts, Ruth Wells and Betty Worthy (John); and her dear friend, Marilyn Pennalber, along with other beloved members of her extended family.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Audubon Home Health for the exceptional care and compassion they provided through palliative, home health, and hospice services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for prayers and support during this time.

The love she gave so freely will never be forgotten.
