Terri Lynn Camp Hines

Anyone who ever learned from, laughed with or was loved by Terri Lynn Camp Hines is her living legacy – especially her son Alex who will continue to make her proud.

Terri passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026.

Born on June 27, 1973, she threw the world’s best Purple Rain Party in junior high. She was protective – the friend you wanted on your side because Lord help those who were on her bad side. Her generosity knew no bounds. Loud cheers of support and quiet acts of kindness were her forte. She was a big fan of long naps, snacky snacks and the Piano Bar at Pat O’s. Her dry wit and sarcasm were accentuated with perfectly timed eye rolls. The beach was her happy place, and it is there she’ll find her forever rest.

She loved with all her might.

An educator for nearly three decades, Terri’s contributions to students in the classroom can only be matched by her positive impact among co-workers and peers. A fierce motivator, she was a mentor to too many to count. She began teaching at Columbia Street Magnet School in Bogalusa, LA. She then moved to Denham Springs and taught at Southside Junior High School. The final stop of her 26-year career was Scotlandville Middle Magnet School. After retirement as a teacher, she shared her talents as an administrator at Garden View Nursing Home and executive assistant at the Louisiana Department of Corrections Credit Union.

A three-time alumnus of Southeastern Louisiana University having earned her master’s degree, her proudest achievement, by far, is her son, Alex Hines, who resides in Denham Springs. She is also survived by her mother, Beth Thompson of Denham Springs and sister Emily Camp of Lafayette. She considered Eliza Kate Cowser of Hammond a daughter who she lovingly spoiled and scolded accordingly. Her father Lloyd “Digger” Earl and stepfather Steve Thompson has both passed away. She was separated from her husband Clayton Hines Jr. of Bogalusa.

Those who had the privilege of knowing her are better for it.

Her family and friends, who she treated like family, will keep on smilin’, only because we know that’s what she’d tell us to do. After all, life is just a party, and parties aren’t meant to last.

Visitation is set from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, January 22, with a service in her honor at 6 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Denham Springs.
