Terrell Emmett "Terry" Howes, a resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at the age of 91. Terry was born on December 31, 1934, in Enon, Louisiana, to Emmett Lee Howes and Mildred Louise Pittman Howes. His life was characterized by faith, hard work, and a deep devotion to his family. He treasured his family above all else, sharing 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sue Sullivan Howes.

Terry is survived by his wife, Sue Howes, and their six children: Stephen Howes (Janice), Laura Bankston (Roger), Sidney Wall (Wendy), Brian Howes (Tracie), Vivian "DeeDee" Sullivan (Chad), and Ashley Wall True (Christian). He was a proud grandfather to Brittany Howes, Bradley Howes (Rebecca), Brennan Howes (Brianna), Kayla Cason (Jacob), Cole Sullivan (Ciera), Annie Bankston, Tyler Sullivan (Megan), Sidney Davis Wall, Mason True, and McKenzie Myers, as well as a great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren. Terry also cherished the friendship of Jesse and Debra Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Lee Howes and Mildred Louise Pittman Howes; his brother, Michael Wayne Howes; and his sister-in-law, Eleanor Howes.

Terry spent 37 years working as an Operations Supervisor at the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge Refinery before retiring. He earned the respect of many colleagues and friends throughout his career due to his strong work ethic and character.

As a dedicated member of St. Francis Episcopal Church, Terry worshiped faithfully, served alongside many dear friends, and continually deepened his relationship with God. He was also involved in the Masonic community, having been raised to the degree of Master Mason in 1962. He served as Past Master of Trinity Union Lodge #372 F&AM in 1997 and 2010 and was a 33rd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Valley, the Istrouma York Rite Masonic Bodies, and the Acacia Shrine Center in Baton Rouge, where he served as Past President of the Shrine Klown Unit. Additionally, he was Past Patron of Myrtle Celeste Chapter No. 231 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Through his work, church, and years of dedication to the Masonic community, Terry exemplified a life of service to others, a belief reflected in his favorite scripture: "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." (1 Corinthians 13:13)
