Teresa "Terry" Reynolds Parker

Baton Rouge

Teresa (Terry) Reynolds Parker, 76, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 17th after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease with her daughter (Brenda) and son (Jeffrey) at her side.

 

Terry was born in Pine Bluff Arkansas on December 14th, 1946 to John and Joann Reynolds. She graduated from Lee high school in Baton Rouge and went on to get advanced degrees from LSU and FSU. She received her Masters Degree in Education and retired after 30yrs of teaching Special Education. Terry Loved teaching and took care of her students like family. Terry’s hobbies included traveling, gardening, painting, photography and cooking. She was very creative and enjoyed anything outdoors. She especially loved the beach and ocean. Terry was known to find humor in most situations and loved to laugh, even if it was at herself. Her smile and laugh was contagious and you couldn’t help but to laugh and smile with her, no matter the mood. Her favorite pastime was music. She loved all genres and would dance to any type of music anywhere. She never met a stranger and made friends no matter where she was. She just had that type of personality that you couldn’t help but love.

 

Terry is survived by her 2 children; Brenda Ballard (Terry), Prairieville and Jeffrey Boykin (Bridget), Maurepas; Sister Kathleen Klumpp; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She loved her family so much and loved to give big hugs and kisses. She also leaves behind her sweet puppy Nikki that was her companion and best friend for the last 5yrs. She and Nikki were inseparable until the last few months of her life. Nikki is now being loved by her daughter and family.

 

To honor Terry’s memory, we are holding a Celebration of Life Reception on December 16th at 2pm, at Bamboo Garden, 845 La Crete Lane, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. We invite anyone who knew her to attend and remember her wonderful life.

 

Special thanks to the staff at Magnolia Brook memory care unit (Lilac Trace) for their exceptional and loving care and to the Nurses, Aides, Pastor and Social worker at Hospice in his Care for their guidance, support and exceptional care.

 

Terry was a breast cancer survivor so in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Susan G Komen or The Alzheimers Association.
