Listen to Obituary

Tanya Doreen Bird Snoddy passed away on August 28, 2025, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the age of 76. She was born on February 21, 1949, in Houston, Texas and lived a vibrant life. She married her college sweetheart, Charles Richard Snoddy in 1972, and together they raised four children: Joy, Porter, Jeanne, and Landon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Doris Bird and her sister, Paige.

Tanya is survived by her husband, four children and their spouses: Drew, Melissa, Dean and Stacie; her ten grandchildren: Tyler, Baird, Madeleine, Gabriella, Samuel, Evangeline, Hope, Penelope, Anabelle, and Aria, who lovingly called her, "Bopma" and "Coocoo." as well as her older brother, Alan Bird and her nephews, Alex and Colby. Tanya was deeply devoted to her family.

Tanya and her friends called themselves "The Purple Hats" and she found happiness and meaning in countless friendships.

Tanya's fervor and commitment for Jesus could be seen in her passion for helping others. She spent years volunteering and working at Hope for Hemophilia, a national non-profit charity. She also spent hours studying the meaning of names and even wrote books on the subject. She inspired those around her to become who the Lord created them to be. She was known for her warmth and childlike wonder, bringing joy to all who knew her. She loved to laugh, to celebrate the silliness in life and could often be seen wearing her fairy wings and tiara. Even through trials and tribulations, she found the good in everyone and in every situation. To know her was to love her.

Tanya will be dearly missed by her friends and loved ones, but her spirit will live on in the memories she created during her time on this earth.

We will be celebrating Tanya's life on September 20, 2025 at The Vineyard Church, located at 16761 Tiger Bend Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70817, from 2:00pm-4:00pm CST. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hope for Hemophilia at donate.html (https://www.hopeforhemophilia.org/donate.html). Please wear a silly hat, tie or socks to commemorate Tanya's zest for life!
