Sylvia Wells

Sylvia Wells of Saint Amant, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at the age of 89 years old. Born on August 6, 1936, she lived a vibrant life as a wife, mother, and friend to many. Sylvia and her family were members of the Household of Faith church in Gonzales, Louisiana where she and her late husband served as founding members. Additionally, Sylvia was passionate about traveling the U.S. and spending time in nature. She was particularly fond of mountain destinations and was known for taking cross-country road trips with her family and friends to various state and national parks. Her sense of adventure and appreciation for the great outdoors was passed down to her children and grandchildren through shared experiences and memorable conversations. Sylvia enjoyed spending time with her loved ones and was often found sipping coffee on her porch swing while chatting with family and friends. In recent years, she resided at the Ascension Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gonzales where she made many new companions. She adored visits from her children, grandchildren, and longtime friends throughout her time there.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents Dewey and Nola Cannon; her loving husband of 51 years, Truvie Wells; her brother Melvin (Narvie) Cannon, brother-in-law Gary Rheams and sister-in-law Joyce Cannon; her son, Sydney Reed Wells, and her grandson, Truvie Gyles Wells. She is survived by her siblings, Carol (Bill) Abbott, Wanda Rheams, and Bute Cannon; her children Trudy (Elvin) Norsworthy and Bradford (Robin) Wells, as well as, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grand children, and 3 great-great grandchildren who will miss her greatly.

A memorial service will be held at Faithful United Methodists Church in St. Amant, Louisiana on Saturday, July 18th at 12 PM. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Wells family to assist with expenses.
