Sunel was a light in the lives of everyone who knew him. He was loving, kind, and full of life, with a smile so contagious that it could brighten even the darkest day. Wherever he went, people were drawn to him—not just because he was funny, but because he was genuinely good-hearted. Sunel had a special kind of humor; he was very, very funny, goofy in the best way, and never afraid to be himself. That is what made him unforgettable.

He loved the simple things that made him happy. He enjoyed watching Cars and Angelina Ballerina, and he had a deep love for cars in general. His favorite colors, red and blue, matched his vibrant and bold personality. He also loved listening to Anuel AA, whose music was always part of his world.

Sunel grew up in Puerto Rico, where he spent his childhood surrounded by family, playing canicas and making memories with his cousins. Those early years were filled with laughter, games, and the kind of joy that stayed with him throughout his life. When he later moved to Louisiana, he carried that same spirit with him and quickly made new friends who came to love him just as deeply.

Although his life was short, Sunel made a lasting impact. He helped many people and touched countless hearts. He believed in not giving up and never taking the easy route. He faced life with determination, always trying his best no matter what challenges came his way.

A few months ago, Sunel met Sophia at church, and their connection was something truly special. They fell in love, and she brought him so much happiness. In his final months, Sunel felt like he was living a beautiful story, and Sophia was at the center of it. She stood by him through everything, helping him through his ups and downs and bringing him closer to God. She was not only the love of his life, but also his best friend, and their time together meant everything to him.

In their everyday moments, it was often the little things that showed just how much he cared. Sophia would jokingly say she did not like washing dishes, and without ever being asked, Sunel would quietly take her plate to the kitchen and clean it after she finished eating. It became one of those small, unspoken acts of love that meant so much. And even when he was the one cooking, she would playfully tell him it was her turn—but somehow, he still found a way to help, just because that was who he was: thoughtful, selfless, and always looking for ways to make the people he loved feel cared for.

Sunel also made many meaningful friendships through his church community. He shared special bonds with Abi, Eli, Samantha, Adriana, Alejandro, Naomi, Alexis, and many others. Together, they created unforgettable memories filled with laughter, faith, and joy. One of the most cherished moments of Sunel’s life was traveling to New York with this group. That trip was full of happiness and adventure, and it became one of his most loved memories—one that truly reflected the joy he found in friendship and togetherness.

Sunel was also embraced with love by Titi Pam, her husband, and Sophia’s grandparents, Cesar and Yadira Lacayo. Even though they had not known him for long, they welcomed him into their home and their hearts. They supported him, cared for him, and made him feel truly valued. Words will never be enough to express the gratitude felt for everything they did for Sunel.

Family meant everything to him. Sunel shared a deep and unbreakable bond with his mother. They went through so much together, standing by each other through every challenge. Their connection was more than just mother and son—they were soulmates. He loved making her proud, even in the smallest ways, through his efforts, his affection, and the little everyday moments they shared—laughing together, talking, and simply being there for one another.

Sunel was also blessed with a loving stepfather, Elson Ojeda, who was like a true father to him. He taught Sunel many things about life, strength, and perseverance. Sunel appreciated him deeply and carried those lessons with him every day. The love and guidance he received helped shape the young man he became.

His sister, Samarie Cruz Matos, also held a special place in his heart. She will always remember his jokes, the way he would walk into her room just to turn the lights on, and the playful moments when he would start a play fight just to sneak some extra food. Those memories, full of laughter and love, will live on forever.

Sunel is lovingly remembered by his mother, Zulmarie Matos Ramos; his stepfather, Elson Ojeda; his sister, Samarie Cruz Matos; and his grandmother, Migdalia Ramos. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Samuel Cruz Tirado, and his grandfather, Gorge Matos.

Sunel loved animals, especially cats. His beloved baby, Ranger, held a special place in his heart. Ranger loved him deeply too—so much that Sunel could carry him like a necklace, and Ranger would just sit there peacefully. It was a bond that showed Sunel’s gentle and loving nature.

He also shared countless laughs with his uncles and cousins. Whether it was joking about silly things or just enjoying each other’s company, Sunel brought joy into every moment. He had many friends and family members who loved him dearly, and his presence made every gathering brighter.

Above all, Sunel’s faith became an important part of his life. God was his refuge and his strength, a constant source of comfort and hope. Sunel was covered and blessed by the blood of God, and through his faith, he found peace, purpose, and love.

As it is written in Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” And in Isaiah 41:10, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.”

We also hold on to the promise of salvation in Acts 16:31: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved.”

Even in grief, we hold onto the promise found in Revelation 21:4: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.”

Sunel’s life, though short, was full of love, laughter, and meaning. He reminded everyone around him to smile more, love deeply, and never give up.

Though he is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace. As it is written in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

Sunel will always be remembered as a bright, beautiful soul who brought happiness wherever he went. His spirit lives on in every memory, every laugh, and every heart he touched. He will never be forgotten.

Sunel fue una luz en la vida de todos los que lo conocieron. Era amoroso, bondadoso y lleno de vida, con una sonrisa tan contagiosa que podía alegrar hasta el día más oscuro. Dondequiera que iba, las personas se sentían atraídas hacia él, no solo porque era gracioso, sino porque tenía un corazón genuinamente bueno. Sunel tenía un sentido del humor muy especial; era muy, muy chistoso, juguetón en el mejor sentido, y nunca tenía miedo de ser él mismo. Eso es lo que lo hacía inolvidable.

Le gustaban las cosas sencillas que le daban alegría. Disfrutaba ver Cars y Angelina Ballerina, y tenía un gran amor por los carros en general. Sus colores favoritos, el rojo y el azul, reflejaban su personalidad vibrante y valiente. También le gustaba escuchar a Anuel AA, cuya música siempre formó parte de su mundo.

Sunel creció en Puerto Rico, donde pasó su niñez rodeado de familia, jugando canicas y creando recuerdos con sus primos. Esos primeros años estuvieron llenos de risas, juegos y esa clase de alegría que lo acompañó toda su vida. Más adelante, cuando se mudó a Louisiana, llevó consigo ese mismo espíritu y rápidamente hizo nuevas amistades que también llegaron a quererlo profundamente.

Aunque su vida fue corta, Sunel dejó una huella duradera. Ayudó a muchas personas y tocó incontables corazones. Creía en no rendirse y en no tomar el camino fácil. Enfrentó la vida con determinación, siempre dando lo mejor de sí, sin importar los desafíos que se presentaran.

Hace unos meses, Sunel conoció a Sophia en la iglesia, y su conexión fue algo verdaderamente especial. Se enamoraron, y ella le trajo mucha felicidad. En sus últimos meses, Sunel sentía que estaba viviendo una historia hermosa, y Sophia estaba en el centro de ella. Ella estuvo a su lado en todo, ayudándolo en sus altas y bajas y acercándolo más a Dios. No solo fue el amor de su vida, sino también su mejor amiga, y el tiempo que compartieron significó todo para él.

En sus momentos cotidianos, muchas veces eran las pequeñas cosas las que mostraban cuánto le importaban los demás. Sophia solía bromear diciendo que no le gustaba lavar los platos, y sin que nadie se lo pidiera, Sunel tomaba su plato en silencio, lo llevaba a la cocina y lo lavaba después de que ella terminaba de comer. Se volvió uno de esos pequeños actos de amor, sin necesidad de palabras, que significaban muchísimo. Y aun cuando él era quien estaba cocinando, ella le decía juguetonamente que ahora le tocaba a ella, pero de alguna manera él seguía encontrando una forma de ayudar, porque así era Sunel: atento, desprendido y siempre buscando maneras de hacer sentir amadas y cuidadas a las personas que quería.

Sunel también cultivó amistades muy significativas dentro de su comunidad de iglesia. Compartió lazos especiales con Abi, Eli, Samantha, Adriana, Alejandro, Naomi, Alexis y muchos más. Juntos crearon recuerdos inolvidables llenos de risas, fe y alegría. Uno de los momentos más preciados en la vida de Sunel fue viajar a Nueva York con este grupo. Ese viaje estuvo lleno de felicidad y aventura, y se convirtió en uno de sus recuerdos más amados, reflejando la alegría que encontraba en la amistad y en estar junto a los suyos.

Sunel también fue recibido con amor por Titi Pam, su esposo, y los abuelos de Sophia, Cesar y Yadira Lacayo. Aunque no lo conocían desde hacía mucho tiempo, lo recibieron en su casa y en su corazón. Lo apoyaron, lo cuidaron y lo hicieron sentir verdaderamente valorado. Las palabras nunca serán suficientes para expresar la gratitud por todo lo que hicieron por Sunel.

La familia lo era todo para él. Sunel compartía un vínculo profundo e inquebrantable con su madre. Pasaron por mucho juntos, permaneciendo el uno al lado del otro en cada desafío. Su conexión era más que la de madre e hijo; eran almas muy unidas. A él le encantaba hacerla sentir orgullosa, aun en las cosas más pequeñas, por medio de su esfuerzo, su cariño y esos momentos cotidianos que compartían: reír juntos, conversar y simplemente estar el uno para el otro.

Sunel también fue bendecido con un padrastro amoroso, Elson Ojeda, que fue como un verdadero padre para él. Le enseñó muchas cosas sobre la vida, la fortaleza y la perseverancia. Sunel lo apreciaba profundamente y llevaba esas enseñanzas consigo cada día. El amor y la guía que recibió ayudaron a formar al joven en quien se convirtió.

Su hermana, Samarie Cruz Matos, también ocupaba un lugar muy especial en su corazón. Ella siempre recordará sus bromas, la manera en que entraba a su cuarto solo para prender las luces y esos momentos juguetones cuando comenzaba una pelea de juego solo para robar un poco más de comida. Esos recuerdos, llenos de risa y amor, vivirán para siempre.

Sunel será recordado con mucho amor por su madre, Zulmarie Matos Ramos; su padrastro, Elson Ojeda; su hermana, Samarie Cruz Matos; y su abuela, Migdalia Ramos. Fue precedido en muerte por su padre biológico, Samuel Cruz Tirado, y por su abuelo, Gorge Matos.

A Sunel le encantaban los animales, especialmente los gatos. Su amado bebé, Ranger, ocupaba un lugar muy especial en su corazón. Ranger también lo amaba profundamente; tanto, que Sunel podía cargarlo como si fuera un collar, y Ranger simplemente se quedaba allí, tranquilo. Era un vínculo que reflejaba la naturaleza tierna y amorosa de Sunel.

También compartió incontables risas con sus tíos y primos. Ya fuera bromeando sobre cosas sencillas o simplemente disfrutando de la compañía de los demás, Sunel traía alegría a cada momento. Tenía muchos amigos y familiares que lo amaban muchísimo, y su presencia hacía más brillante cada reunión.

Por encima de todo, la fe de Sunel llegó a ser una parte importante de su vida. Dios fue su refugio y su fortaleza, una fuente constante de consuelo y esperanza. Sunel estaba cubierto y bendecido por la sangre de Dios, y por medio de su fe encontró paz, propósito y amor.

Como está escrito en el Salmo 46:1: “Dios es nuestro amparo y fortaleza, nuestro pronto auxilio en las tribulaciones.” Y en Isaías 41:10: “No temas, porque yo estoy contigo; no desmayes, porque yo soy tu Dios.”

También nos aferramos a la promesa de salvación de Hechos 16:31: “Cree en el Señor Jesucristo, y serás salvo.”

Aun en medio del dolor, nos sostenemos de la promesa de Apocalipsis 21:4: “Enjugará Dios toda lágrima de los ojos de ellos; y ya no habrá muerte, ni habrá más llanto, ni clamor, ni dolor.”

La vida de Sunel, aunque corta, estuvo llena de amor, risas y significado. Les recordó a todos los que lo rodeaban que sonrieran más, amaran profundamente y nunca se rindieran.

Aunque ya no está con nosotros, hallamos consuelo en saber que está en paz. Como está escrito en 2 Timoteo 4:7: “He peleado la buena batalla, he acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe.”

Sunel siempre será recordado como un alma hermosa y luminosa que llevaba alegría dondequiera que iba. Su espíritu vive en cada recuerdo, en cada risa y en cada corazón que tocó. Nunca será olvidado.
