Stephen "Steve" Janis

Stephen "Steve" Janis, a beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 14,2024. Born in Baton Rouge on October 8, 1961, Steve was known for his kind and giving nature, his sense of humor, and his ability to connect with people effortlessly. He touched the lives of many with his willingness to help others and his genuine personality. 

One of Steve's greatest joys in life was spending time with his loved ones. He was immensely proud of his two children, James and Angelle, as well as his grandchildren Kyler, Payten, Marliegh, and Austin. Family meant everything to him, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. 

In addition to his devotion to family, Steve was an extremely hard worker. When he wasn’t working, he had a passion for riding his motorcycle, cooking, and shooting pool with friends. These interests brought him immense joy and allowed him to unwind and have fun in the company of those he cared about. 

Steve will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his mother Mary Kathleen Deane Janis, son James Janis, daughter Angelle Janis Guillot, and his grandchildren and leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. He now joins his father Ferdinand Michael (Mike) Janis, sister Deborah (Debbie) Marie Janis, fraternal grandmother Inez (Nezzie) Marie Janis, and maternal grandmother Mary Rose (Mammie) Deane in eternal peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 15208 Hwy 73, Prairieville, Louisiana on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 9:30AM until 11:30AM.  The Memorial Service will begin at 11:30AM.  The family invites those in attendance to a gathering in the Parish Hall following the service.

Although Steve may no longer be with us in body, his spirit lives on through the memories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he be remembered for his generosity, humor, and unwavering love for his family. Rest in peace, Steve - your kindness will never be forgotten.
