Stanley "Pops" G. Dixon, a cherished member of the Gonzales community, passed away on January 15, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 17, 1937, in Galvez, Louisiana, Stanley lived a rich and fulfilling life characterized by dedication to his family, community, and profession.
Stanley had a notable career as a Millwright supervisor and planner, serving with pride as a Gold Card Member of the United Brotherhood Carpenters Joiners America Local 198, Union 720 for an impressive 50 years. His commitment to his work exemplified his strong work ethic and leadership skills, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
A proud graduate of Gonzales High School in the class of 1956, Stanley took great pride in his education and early life experiences. He was a devoted member of St. Mark Catholic Church, where he actively participated in church activities and formed lasting friendships.
Beyond his professional contributions, Stanley's vibrant personality shone through in his hobbies and interests. He enjoyed dancing, horse riding, and gardening, indulging in the simple pleasures of life. As a member of the Cajun French Association "Les Danseurs de La Capitale" in Baton Rouge, he embraced his cultural heritage and shared his love for dance with others. Stanley also contributed to his community as a member of Friends of Ascension and the Council of Aging, demonstrating his commitment to supporting those around him.
Stanley takes with him a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gwen Young Dixon, and their three children: Ted Dixon (Jodi), Kay D. Turner (Ralph), and Kim Delatte. He is also survived by his sister Pairlee Fontenot, and his grandchildren Scott A. Stephens (Kathryn) and great-grandsons Phillip and Braydon.
Stanley was predeceased by his parents, Ellen and Johnny Dixon, and numerous siblings including Ellie, Yvonne, Violet, Mary, Ruth, Lucille, Faye, Dot, Doval, Charlie, Valmon, Berlin, George, J.T. Roddy, and son in law Willie Delatte Sr.
His proudest accomplishments included being a former member of the East Ascension Riders Club and the Ascension Parish Sheriffs Posse, testifying to his adventurous spirit and community involvement.
Visitation will be held on January 21, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Mass at St. Mark Catholic Church, located at 42021 LA-621, Gonzales, LA. The burial will take place on the same day at Hope Haven Garden of Memory at 604 E Hwy 30, Gonzales, LA, following the Mass. Serving as pallbearers: Ralph Turner, Simon Young Jr, Troy Logarbo, Todd Gautreau, Bill Dixon, and Phillip Foster.
Stanley G. Dixon will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, whose impact on the lives of those he encountered will be cherished forever. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and community spirit continues to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
