Sherrie Ann Smallwood

Sherrie Smallwood passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the age of 67. She passed from complications from her courageous lifelong battle with Type 1 diabetes. Sherrie was the beloved sister of Judy Smallwood-Cowsert and Michael Smallwood. She was an animal lover who enjoyed caring for her pets, including dogs, cats, horses, a tortoise, and the occasional squirrel. One of Sherrie’s favorite pastimes was trail riding with her companion of nearly 30 years, Carroll Paul “Snag” Hebert who recently passed in 2022. Sherrie grew up in Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, DC, where she graduated from W. T. Woodson High School. Sherrie later moved to Louisiana, where she spent most of her adult life.
Sherrie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Jimmie Smallwood. Sherrie is survived by her brother and sister, Michael Smallwood and Judy Smallwood-Cowsert. Sherrie is also survived by her four nieces, three grandnieces, and four grandnephews.
Sherrie will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the American Diabetes Association or American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are requested.
