Sharon Ann Plaeger Bollinger

Sharon Ann Plaeger Bollinger, a beloved wife, mom, and Nana, passed away peacefully at home in Prairieville, Louisiana on Thursday, April 20, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She was born on October 27, 1946, in New Orleans, and preceded in death by her parents, George Leonard Plaeger, Jr. and Shirley Mae Bernard Plaeger. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Bernard Bollinger, who was the great love of her life and devoted caregiver during her illness. She is also survived by her daughters, Amber Bollinger Shushan (Ben) and Rachel Bollinger Roffall (Michael), both of Houston Texas, her brother, George Leonard Plaeger, III (Deborah), of Baton Rouge, and her sister, Coleen Plaeger Bear (Robert), of Metairie. Further, she is survived by her aunt, Marilyn Plaeger Shepard, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and her grandchildren, Sydney Marks Shushan, Spencer Bernard Shushan, Grace Elizabeth Roffall, Justin Carter Roffall, and Sadie Ann Roffall. Sharon was raised and educated in New Orleans and settled in Chalmette before moving to Prairieville after Hurricane Katrina. After graduating from the Academy of the Holy Angels, Sharon trained as a secretary at Soule Business College. Thereafter, she worked in the fields of law, oil, transportation, and finally, in aerospace with Lockheed Martin. Sharon’s goal in life was motherhood, and she took great joy from her two daughters and grandchildren. She also shared her boundless love with the neighborhood children, and many furred and feathered animals over the years, from dogs and cats to parakeets and canaries. In addition to caring for her family, pets and neighbors Sharon also enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and reading. Our family wishes to express our deep appreciation to the people of the Hospice of Baton Rouge for their professionalism, and the empathy, care, and companionship they provided Sharon over the last year. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a visitation at 10:00 am on Friday, May 12, 2023, with a memorial mass thereafter at 11:00 am, at St. Ann Church and National Shrine, 4940 Meadowdale Street, Metairie, Louisiana 70006. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans. Louisiana 70124.
