Sarah Elizabeth Palmer

  Our sweet Sarah Elizabeth Palmer passed away on Friday, October 30, 2026. She was born on Tuesday, May 25, 1971 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, the last and by far the sweetest of the four children of Lois and Digby Palmer. She was educated in Shelbyville with the help of the Child Development Center and received her High School diploma from Waller High School in Waller, TX.

  While some would consider her disadvantaged by being born with Down syndrome, Sarah managed to turn that into an asset and could charm anyone into bending to her will. Anyone who witnessed her crinkly-eyed, snaggle tooth grin found her impossible to resist. We know she is currently in heaven, dancing with Patrick Swayze.

  Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Lois and Digby Palmer, Sr. and her nephew Elijah James Palmer. She is survived by her siblings, Digby Palmer, Jr. (Susan) of Nashville, TN, David Palmer (Cheryl) of Baton Rouge, LA, Carol Palmer of Springfield, MO, Belinda Palmer of Rugby, TN, niece Rachael Palmer, and nephews Taylor Palmer (Grace), Clayton Palmer and Payton Palmer. The family will hold a small graveside service in Amite, LA.

The family would like to thank Dr. Will Varnado and his staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center for their kindness and professionalism during Sarah’s treatment and the staff at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for their attentiveness and tenderness.
