It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Sarah Louise Alexander, age 79, on August 16, 2025, at Our Lady of the Lake. Louise was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished friend to many.
Louise leaves behind a legacy of curiosity, adventure, and love. Born in Laurel, MS, she and her loving husband, Bob Alexander, built a life defined by exploration and connection, living in many countries across the world and embracing each as home. Her travels allowed her not only to discover new landscapes but also to build lasting friendships across many cultures. Every place she lived left its imprint on her spirit, and she carried those experiences with her while retaining her sense of southern grace and hospitality.
Alongside her travels, she was equally known for her love of baking. Whether sharing fresh-baked cakes, pies, or her famous potato salad, she delighted in bringing people together through food. Her kitchen was usually filled with the aroma of something sweet in the oven, a reflection of the warmth and generosity she extended to each of us.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Alexander; her daughter, Dee Cathey (husband Beau); and her son, Steve Alexander (wife Tracey).
She also leaves behind sisters Sandy Hatem and Brenda Holder, as well as 5 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Louise is now reunited in Heaven with her parents, Eddie and Eva Rae Wheeler.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life at Tunica Hills Baptist Church on September 13 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in her honor.
As we celebrate her life, we’re reminded that the world is vast, love is boundless, and sometimes the simplest joys, like a well-baked cake, are all it takes to bring people together.
