Sandra Jones King was the most caring and loving wife, mother, sister and friend anyone could ask for. She left this world to be with God on August 5th at age 72. She was born in Mobile, Alabama on July 21st, 1951 to Ellsworth and Mattie Jones. After receiving her BA in Education from University of Alabama, she married the love of her life Jim King. They spent the next 50 years together and had two children, Spencer and Adam. Sandra’s favorite job throughout her career was being the Director of Care Ministry for First United Methodist Church. Caring, helping and showing compassion to others was her calling and her gift. She was full of energy and God’s spirit. She never met a stranger and had an unbelievable ability to remember names and people. One of her favorite things to do was sitting on the balcony at the beach while drinking coffee, listening to the waves and watching the sunrise. She loved attending her Colloquium Sunday School class at First Methodist, watching Alabama football, and playing hymns on the piano. But her most favorite thing to do was spend time with family and friends whom she loved with all her heart and who loved her equally as much. Sandra is survived by her husband Jim, children, Spencer and Adam, brother Eddie Jones and sister-in-law Janine Jones, nephews Kevin Jones, Mark Jones, Jason King, and niece Jennifer King Jaynes. She is preceded in death by her mother and father. Memorial services will be Friday, August 11th at First United Methodist Church with visitation to begin at 11am and service to begin at noon.
