Ruth Elaine Stott Peterson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 11, 1942, Ruth was a gracious and loyal follower of Christ with an immense love for her family and others.

Ruth graduated from McKowen High School in 1960, where she was a cheerleader, a member of the homecoming court, a basketball player, and a 4-H member at the state level. She furthered her education at Baton Rouge Business College and began her career with ACME Refrigeration. Ruth then helped to support her husband, Howard "Pete" Peterson, in building Peterson's Air Conditioning over the next several decades.

Ruth's love for the outdoors was evident in her enjoyment of deer hunting, fishing, and maintaining beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Ruth was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying LSU and Pelican games. She rarely missed watching a Tiger’s sporting event.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Stott and Lutretia Quave Stott, and her beloved daughter, Dwanna Sandifer. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Howard "Pete" Peterson; daughter Deanna West (Stuart); son Howard Glen Peterson Jr. (Jeana); brothers Bobby Stott (Betty), Elliott Stott (Mary), and Chuck Stott (Dorris); grandchildren Daniel Sandifer Jr., Jenson Sandifer, Tyler Peterson (Haylie), William West, Benjamin West (Amelia), Emma West Moreau (Kaden), Micah Claire West, Laiken Peterson, and Harvey Jean Peterson; and great-grandchildren Nicholas Sandifer, Liam Kai Sandifer, Whitley Peterson, Maxwell Moreau, and Truett Peterson.

Pete would like to extend his heartfelt gratitude to the community for their visits, food, phone calls, and prayers during Ruth's illness. Special thanks to Clarity Hospice for their compassionate care and to Ms. Verna Robertson for her many years of loving and devoted service.
