Roy James Forbes, a devoted father, cherished grandfather, and faithful man of God, passed peacefully into eternal rest on July 23, 2026, at 5:42 PM. His departure leaves a tender space in the hearts of all who loved him, his legacy of faith, kindness, and steadfast love continues to shine brightly.
He lived his life with gentle strength and a servant’s heart. As a father, he offered wisdom, patience, and unwavering support. As a grandfather, he brought joy, laughter, and a sense of wonder to every moment shared. His family was his greatest treasure, and he poured himself into them with devotion that never faltered.
A true lover of the outdoors, Roy found peace and joy in God’s creation. Fishing was his passion, whether spending quiet afternoons fishing in his ponds or feeling the thrill of sending a bait 300 feet deep in the Gulf. However, when it was too cold to fish you always knew where to find him shivering deep in the woods with one of his grandkids waiting on the opportunity to see their excitement after harvesting a deer or turkey. Those moments brought him a sense of freedom, gratitude, and connection to nature, to family, and to the Lord. His stories, his patience, and the calm joy he carried on the water will be remembered by all who shared those days with him.
Roy was 60 years old and a resident of Pride and native of Baker. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Miracle Place Church, 2080 Main Street Baker, Louisiana 70714 from 10:30am to 1:00pm with service officiated by dear friend and Pastor Ricky Sinclair.
He is the father of two sons, Eric Forbes and wife Morgan, Kevin Forbes and fiancé’ Kayla Banta; mother Nancy Blanchard Forbes, brothers Kenny Forbes (Becky) and Jessie Forbes; eight grandchildren, Cole, Samantha, Anthony, Brantley, Harper, Cheryl; and many in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. Proceeded in death by his father, Colin Wayne Forbes, and family members Barabara Chustz and Ron Bringol. Pallbearers will be Cole Forbes, Gage LeBlanc, Anthony D’Agostino, Brantley Forbes, Beau Schlatre, and Michael Hatfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Captain Jerry Westmoreland, Jimmy Cooper, Joey Cooper, Terry Hayes, Edmond LeBlanc, Trenton Hatfield, and Drake Schlatre. He was a 1983 graduate of Baker High School, a member of Oikos Ministries and a cherished part of his fishing camp family in Leeville, Louisiana. He found great joy in the time spent there, building lasting friendships and creating countless memories on the water.
The Forbes family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU staff at the Baton Rouge General for their unwavering support, compassion, and exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Roy Forbes may be mailed to Oikos Ministries 4420 Gilead Road Clinton, Louisiana 70722 or Miracle Place Church 2080 Main Street Baker, Louisiana 70714 or charity of your choice.
