Listen to Obituary

Rosemary passed away on October 17, 2025, at the age of 94. She was born in Ansley, Jackson Parish, Louisiana on December 11, 1930. The family moved to Bernice, Louisiana in 1945 and it was there that she met her future husband, Paul Pratt. She graduated from Bernice High School in 1947 when her class was the last to have only 11 grades. She attended Southwestern University in Lafayette. She moved to New Orleans when Paul started medical school. She fell in love with the city and thought it was her “paradise”. Although primarily a homemaker Rosemary worked for several years in her earlier days as a bank teller, a real estate agent, briefly managing a restaurant her husband owned, was a CASA volunteer and a volunteer with the New Orleans Convention Center.

She is survived by her children Salli Phillips (Jim), Beth Advani (Sonu), William Pratt, John Pratt (Adair); grandchildren Ryan Berry (Lara), Jessica Colon, Margurite Saxena and Catherine, Caroline and Will Pratt and Barrett Pratt (Alaina) and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Carol Ann Simpson and brother Bill Hageman (Geralyn). She was preceded in death by her parents Edward William Hageman and Willard Lagrone Hageman, her former husband Dr. Paul Pratt, and two granddaughters Dr. Elizabeth Berry Long and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Pratt and her beloved dog Tinkerbell.

The family would like to thank the staff of Landmark South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Hospice of Baton Rouge for the care and kindness they provided and her friends at Village Woods Retirement Community (where she moved several years after Hurricane Katrina and thought it would have been perfect if it was in New Orleans).

As per her wishes, Rosemary was cremated and her remains will be buried in the Bernice Cemetery in Bernice, Louisiana, next to her parents with a private family burial.
