Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rosemarie Ann Moreau, who entered her eternal rest on June 12, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born September 21, 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She later made her home in Baton Rouge with her loving husband, Malcolm Moreau, of 60 years & daughter, Tammy Ann Moreau. She always had a special place in her heart for her cats & she would always make room for just one more who needed a loving home — She & her daughter shared this special connection.

Her Catholic faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She was a parishioner of St. Aloysius Parish for 53 years. She had a special devotion to St. Joseph & lovingly shared the beautiful tradition of St. Joseph's Altars & suppers with countless family & friends over the years. It was her labor of love.

Rosemarie treasured holidays & family traditions throughout the years — But Mardi Gras held a special place in her heart as it connected her with her family's love for the Carnival Season. She was member of the Krewe of Venus for many years as a young woman & later with her daughter. She delighted in the traditions & joy of everything purple, green, & gold. One of her greatest pleasures was helping her daughter prepare to parade each year, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

She was a lifelong fan of the New Orleans Saints from their inception. But above all she loved all things LSU, especially baseball, gymnastics, & football, & rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Tigers.

Many friends & family members gathered around Rosemarie's kitchen table throughout the years to share her delicious meals, stories, & laughter. Her home was a place of warmth, hospitality, & love where everyone felt welcome.

Rosemarie faced her battle with cancer with remarkable strength, grace, & faith. Throughout her journey, she was blessed with the loving care of Dr. Bryan Beinvenu, Dr. Wang, the dedicated nurses, & compassionate staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Their kindness, expertise, & support brought comfort to not only Rosemarie but also to her family, especially her daughter.

In her final days, Rosemarie was surrounded by the compassionate care of Hospice of Baton Rouge & the Butterfly Wing, whose staff provided dignity, comfort, & peace. Her family is forever grateful for the compassionate care, endless support, & genuine love shown by all who walked alongside Rosemarie during this chapter of life.

She is survived by her loving husband & daughter. She also leaves behind extended family & dear friends who will forever cherish her memory — especially her loving godchild, Barbara Lynn Hinrichs.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Alfred Octave Leconte Sr. & Lena Gulotta Leconte, & one brother.

Visitation services for Rosemarie will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Family & friends are invited to gather beginning at 9:30 am, with the Rosary to be recited at 10:00 am. A funeral service will immediately follow.

St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70808.

May she rest in the peace of Christ & his Holy Family. And may she remain in the hearts of all who loved her.
