Rose Mary Picard Richardson was born on November 9, 1942, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Amelcar and Eula Picard. Born to deaf parents, she learned American Sign Language at an early age, a gift that allowed her to communicate with compassion and serve those around her throughout her life.
Rose Mary was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life and influenced everything she did. She found great joy in serving others. Whether caring for family, offering a helping hand, or serving faithfully in her church callings, she was happiest when she was lifting those around her. She also loved serving in the temple and spending countless hours working on family history.
She loved birds and flowers, enjoyed embroidery and crafting, loved playing card games and dominoes with family and friends. While she found happiness in many simple pleasures, nothing brought her greater joy than her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest desire was for her family to remain close and faithful to the Savior.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Amelcar and Eula Elizabeth Pullam Picard; her brothers, Amelcar Picard, Jr. and Willie James Picard; her sister, Shirley Elizabeth Picard Forbes; and her daughter, Vickie Lyn Richardson Whitney.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Patrick Samuel Richardson; her son, Patrick Wayne Richardson (Lisa); her daughters, Kimberly Ann Richardson Heil (Todd) and Jill Elizabeth Richardson Bluth (Mike); her twelve grandchildren: Brandon (Amilyn), Lauren (Robert), Garrett (Mary Catherine), Madison (C.J.), Patrick Gene (Kalysha), Bryn (Josh), Alex, Kaitlyn (Caleb), Jenna, Andrew (Savannah), Abby, and Ethan; eleven great-grandchildren and her sister, Sallie Norine Picard Flowers.
Rose Mary will be remembered for her unwavering faith, gentle spirit, beautiful smile, selfless service, and unconditional love. She lived a life centered on the Savior, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the lives she touched, and the testimony she shared by the way she lived.
Though she is deeply missed, her family finds peace in the promise of the Resurrection and the eternal blessing that families can be together forever.
