Born April 1,1947, Ronald "Ronnie" Rylas passed away on June 21,2026, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond, LA.
He was 79 years old, a native of New Orleans, LA, and a resident of Amite, LA. Ronnie proudly served the community of Independence as a law enforcement officer and later retired from the police force. He was raised Catholic and attended Catholic school throughout his life. A member of the Ninth Louisiana Partisan Rangers, he participated in many Civil War reenactments in which he found much joy. In later times, he joined the dart players of Louisiana. Ronnie also enjoyed country music, line dancing, and playing pool for fun.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Ryals, Eva Valenti Ryals; his brother, Dale Ryals, and granddaughter, Angelle Marie Ryals.
Ronnie is survived by his only daughter, Renee Ryals Gauthier; Sister-in-law, Mary Ryals; a good friend, Janet Stowe, and “best buddy”, Randy Hayden. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends.
A celebration service to honor Ronnie's life will be held at a future date, which will be announced.
