As his children got older to pursue their future, the family settled in Louisiana and Texas. In Baton Rouge Roger worked for EBR Head Start for almost ten years before retiring. He loved watching his grandchildren grow up and spending numerous family gatherings.

Roger loved sports and was an avid soccer player and fan.  He loved watching his grandson Roy play soccer and later on his great grandsons. He also enjoyed basketball and followed the Peruvian teams constantly.  Any time you would visit his house you would be sure to hear a soccer game playing on a tv. His favorite day was spent with his wife cooking her delicious Peruvian food, his family in his home, and a soccer game on tv.
