Robert E Murray

Robert Earl Murray passed away on January the Eleventh, Two Thousand Twenty-Four, just
four days before his 91st birthday. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by those
whom he loved dearly.
Robert, better known as Bob, or even more so as “Papaw,” was born January 15th, 1933 to
Elsie and Earl Murray who have preceded him in death along with his sisters. He is survived by
his beloved niece Karen. He was an alumni of Butler University, where he studied Microbiology.
Bob proudly served the country he loved as a Navy medical technician, and was a veteran of
the Korean Conflict. Bob and his former spouse, Carolyn Brown Murray, went on to have five
children together whom they adored. Bob is survived by his daughter Lori (Brent) and two of his
sons Jeffrey (Colleen) and Bill (Donna). He is preceded in death by two of his sons Michael (d.
2020) and Timothy (d. 2016). Bob was a loving Papaw to thirteen grandchildren and eighteen
great grandchildren whom he joyfully adored and cherished. He often spoke of his love for his
family and how blessed he was to have them.
In his time of retirement, Bob enjoyed playing cards and loved nature, especially birdwatching.
He was also an avid reader who never stopped learning. His greatest joy, however, came from
studying the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Bob shared his love of the Lord with anyone who would
listen, and even wrote his own sermons. Bob loved conversation and would speak with
strangers and friends alike. His eloquence and knowledge were aspects of his personality that
all who knew him can attest to.
A service for Bob will be held on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024 at The Venue (Venue II) located at 13475 HWY 431, St Amant, LA 70774. Family, friends, and loved ones are welcome to join a celebration of his life. Visitation
will be from 5:00-6:00 p.m. with a service to follow.
