Robert Lee Wilson, 81, of Slaughter, LA passed away peacefully at The Carpenter House on June 7, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 4, 1937 in Fernwood, Mississippi. He was married to Shirley Ann Wilson and they recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. Robert was a member of the National Guard. He also was a Baton Rouge City Police officer for 10 years and retired from Borden Chemical Plant. Robert loved hunting, fishing, camping and attending his church. He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Wilson (Slaughter, LA). Together they had two sons, Mike Wilson and his wife Robin (Rocheport, MO) and Eric Wilson (Gonzales, LA). He is also survived by his sister Geraldine Wilson Smith (Dallas, TX) and brother Jimmy Gordon Wilson (Gonzales, LA) and several nieces and nephews. He adored his two Grandchildren Hanna Renee Wilson and Shelby Leanne Wilson. Robert lived his life with much faith, love and dignity. He was a character, always joking and cutting up. He will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held at New Life Center, 806 Hospital Rd., New Roads, LA 70760 on Saturday June 9, visitation will be from 9am-11am and the memorial service will begin at 11am.
