It is with deep love and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard John Ramsey Jr., a devoted husband, cherished father, and faithful servant of God, who went home to be with the Lord on October 3, 2025.

Born on September 12, 1946, Richard dedicated his life to ministry, answering God’s call with a humble heart and steadfast devotion. He was ordained in the Church of Nazarene. As a pastor, he led with compassion, wisdom, and grace, offering comfort to the hurting, guidance to the searching, and hope to all who crossed his path. His sermons reflected not only his knowledge of Scripture but also his profound love for people, and his desire for everyone to experience God’s peace.

Above all, Richard’s greatest joy was his family. He was the beloved husband of Jacalyn Susan Briggs Ramsey, with whom he shared a partnership rooted in faith and unconditional love. He was a father to Matthew Ramsey and Sheila Capps, encouraging them, praying for them, and celebrating every moment of their lives. His family will forever remember his gentle strength, warm laughter, and unwavering support.

Richard’s life was a testament to service, service to God, to family, and to community. Whether offering a listening ear, delivering a meal, or praying with someone in need, he embodied Christ’s love in both word and action. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the seeds of faith he planted.

He is preceded in death by his son Matthew Ramsey, and parents Richard John Ramsey, Sr. and Dorothy Lewis Ramsey. Richard is survived by his sister Rochelle Vasquez, his nephew Richard Vasquez, niece Joey Vasquez, his daughter Sheila Capps and her husband Daniel Capps, his loving and dedicated spouse Jacalyn Susan Briggs Ramsey, and her two children Colonel (US Army, Retired) Scott Nolan and Robert Nolan, who will continue to honor his memory.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice knowing he now rests in the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
