Richard Anthony Ledet

Richard Anthony Ledet, lovingly known as "Papa," age 76, passed away peacefully at his home on August 2, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Richard cherished life's simple pleasures: spending time on the river, gathering with family, and enjoying a good baseball game. Above all, he was devoted to the people he loved.

He was a deeply loving father to his daughter, Allyson Ledet and her partner, Clint Callegan, and to his son, Randy Ledet and his wife, Veronica. His most treasured and legendary role was being "Papa" to his three beloved granddaughters, Hannah Briglio and her husband, Stephen Behrens, Ana Ledet, and Gina Ward.

Richard received immense love, kindness, and unwavering loyalty from his longtime companion, Theresa Costa, especially throughout his recent illness. He was a loving brother to his sister, Tina Ledet, and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. He held a special place in the lives of so many family members and friends, especially Ayden, Alayna, and Ainsley Callegan, and Ayden Lacroix.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Beatrice Ledet; brother, Leonard Ledet; and sisters, Barbara Ledet Hebert and Bonnie Jean Ledet Franklin. He is survived by his sister and brother, Wilson Ledet, Jr.

Papa leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, understanding, patience, and quiet strength. His gentle presence, steady support, and devotion to family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know him.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held at a later date in Houma, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Make-A-Wish Foundation and/or the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA).
