Listen to Obituary

Richard Irvin Bowman, born February 15th, 1950 in Brookhaven, MS - passed away on October 28th, 2025 at his home in Central, LA at the age of 75 years old with his family at his side.

Richard was known for being outdoors, either gardening or working in his yard. He loved to sit outside in a lawn chair while an LSU ball game played on the radio, with one of his fur babies by his side. Richard completed a 35 year long career as a contractor supervisor at the Exxon Plastic Plant in Baker, LA.

In his younger days, he loved to hunt and fish. He also loved to go antique shopping with his wife Pam and family members Terry and Sheree. A perfect weekend for them would be spent by going from one shop to another across Texas, and ending the day at a Mexican restaurant. He always talked about his wonderful childhood, growing up in Brookhaven, Mississippi during a time when children could just run free and have fun just being children. He had a happy life and will be missed dearly by all those who loved him.

Richard is survived by his wife Pam Bowman, daughter Christie Heptinstall (Justin), sons by marriage Joshua Brooks and Zachary Brooks (Anya GorsonBrooks), and six grandchildren; Shane Houston, Holden Heptinstall, Caley Loewenstein, Cason Heptinstall and Layton Heptinstall, and Neo GorsonBrooks.

He is preceded in death by daughter Michelle Erhardt, father Herman Bowman, mother Elsie Newton Bowman, siblings Herman Bowman Jr., Katrina Jackson, Clark Bowman, and Kenneth Bowman.
