Reed had a passion for the simple joys in life. He loved spending his time cutting grass, working on his honey-do-list, and tinkering with his tools. He found great pleasure in listening to swamp pop and Van Broussard, often saying that Gautreau men were light on the head but heavy on the feet.
Described as hardworking, kind, gentle, humble, caring, compassionate and loving, Reed had a heart of pure gold. He always had a smile on his face and saw the good in everyone and everything. Reed was a one-of-a-kind individual, genuine in his actions and words.
Reed's devotion to his family was unparalleled. He dated his high school sweetheart for six years and was married to Connie LeBlanc Gautreau for an incredible 53 years. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless cherished memories. Reed loved nothing more than staying home and spending time with his loved ones, especially his children and grandchildren. Reed adored Connie and called her his "Sweetie".
Throughout his career, Reed made a significant impact in various professions. He dedicated 4 1/2 years to Marchand's, 6 months to Lamendola's, 33 years to Kleinpeter Farms, and retired as a store manager from Murray's Superette in July 2020 after 17 years of service.
Reed's legacy extends beyond his professional achievements. He was a man of profound wisdom. He didn't meet a stranger. If you knew him, you loved him. Reed had a way of making everyone feel valued and appreciated.
In addition to his wife Connie, Reed is survived by his children: Ryan and wife Kim, Tia and husband Ron, Jessica and husband Charlie, and Christen and husband Randy. He was a cherished grandfather to Hunter, Jacob, Grant, Brandon, Abby, and Roman. Reed is also survived by his siblings: Judy Lambert, Elizabeth "Jane" Guitreau, Richard Gautreau, Kenneth Gautreau, and Barry Gautreau. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Laura Dille Gautreau and his sister Dolores Gautreau Braud.
Reed was an active member of his community and faithfully served as an usher at St. Anne's church. His genuine nature and kind spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Reed Michael Gautreau will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he impacted. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to shine bright in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Matthew 5:16 NKJV
Come To Me
God saw you getting tired
When a cure was not to be
So He wrapped His arms around you
And whispered ‘Come to Me.’
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away,
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay.
And when we saw you fading,
So peaceful and free from pain
We could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
You didn't deserve what you went through,
Your golden heart stopped beating,
A beautiful smile and hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.
When days are sad and lonely
And everything goes wrong,
We seem to hear you whisper
‘Cheer up and carry on.’
Each time we see your picture,
You seem to smile and say
‘Don’t cry, I’m in God’s keeping
We’ll meet again someday.’
