Randol Wayne Buchanan

Randol Wayne Buchanan was born on March 10, 1949 in Bay Springs, Mississippi.  He peacefully passed away at his home in Prairieville, Louisiana, on May 28, 2023, at the age of 74.  His passing was a result of complications related to his 8-year battle with cancer.

Randy was a child of the military, accompanying his father during his service, and later he served in the Army himself, embodying the values of dedication and honor.  After his military service, Randy pursued higher education and fell in love, beginning a journey of love, family, and hard work.

Randol spent nearly 47 years of his time of Earth married to the love of his life.  He made it his sole purpose in life to provide for Rita and his family.  He was dedicated to enabling his Queen to grow all the flowers she could ever want right outside her castle doors.  Together they tended to bountiful, overflowing gardens full of colorful blooms, while simultaneously cultivating the foundation on which their love grew.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Jewell and Marvin Willard Buchanan, of Laurel, Mississippi.  He is survived by his loving wife, Rita Buchanan, who stood by his side through thick and thin, sharing countless cherished memories.  He will be deeply missed by his two daughters, Kimberley Cobb and Kristen Buley, who were a source of pride and joy in his life.  Randy’s legacy lives on through his children and grandchildren, and the love and values he instilled in them.

Randy is also survived by his sisters, Deborah Smith and Pamela Buchanan of Collins, Mississippi.  Their memories together will forever hold a place in their hearts.

The memorial service to honor and celebrate Randy’s life will be held on June 10th at 3pm at Ascension Baptist Church in Gonzales.  Prior to the service, there will be a family visitation from 1pm until 3pm.  Friends and loved ones are welcome to attend and pay their respects.

The family sincerely appreciates any monetary donations to aid Rita in the settling of Randy’s medical debt.

Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
