Phyllis Norwood Crim was born on November 14, 1946, in Lake Charles, LA. She was happily married to James “Jim” Crim for over 38 years and they resided in Prairieville, LA.

At an early age, Phyllis was an accomplished ballet, tap and jazz dancer taking and teaching dance for many years. She graduated from LaGrange High School in Lake Charles, LA and attended both McNeese State University and Louisiana State University. Phyllis was a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, with her last chapter being the Epsilon Omega chapter. She attended both St. Luke’s Episcopal and St. Margaret’s Episcopal churches in Baton Rouge. She worked for many years at Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles headquarters in Baton Rouge, LA. Phyllis was seen working the voter polls in Ascension Parish for over 36 years, serving as a Commissioner and Commissioner- in- Charge at the Galvez Precinct.

Phyllis loved to travel and take cruises with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed traveling to England. She cheered for the LSU Tigers in Death Valley and watched all college football games on Saturdays. She loved to cook homemade meals (especially duck and sausage gumbo), and bake delicious, ornately decorated cakes and desserts. She was known for her rum cakes, chocolate cake with seafoam icing, fudge, and pralines. She had a passion for fine English tea and enjoyed it daily. Phyllis loved everything ELVIS: his music, movies and concerts.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Crim, her mother Carol Ann Branson Bairley, her father, Lawrence J. Norwood, and step – father, William “Bill” Bairley and stepson, Christopher J. Crim.

Phyllis is survived by her daughters and sons – in - law, Terri Pesson Stallings (James “Jim” Stallings, Jr.) and Traci Pesson Precht (Eric Precht).

Also survived by her sister, Carol Marlene Norwood Ortego.

Phyllis has six (6) grandsons: David Stallings (Brandi), Daniel Stallings, Dustin Stallings (Nicole), Christopher Kyle Crim, Sean Precht, Luke Precht and seven (7) great grandchildren and one (1) great-great granddaughter. Phyllis was even affectionately known to all her grandchildren’s friends as “Granny”.

Services will be held at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, LA on Tuesday, June 16th. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. Burial will be at Grand Cane Cemetery in Grand Cane, LA at a later date.
