Pearl Guitreau was born on December 6, 1924, in Garyville, Louisiana. She recently celebrated her 101st birthday surrounded by her loving family. She passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at her home on December 20, 2025. She was a lifelong member of St. Theresa of Avila Church in Gonzales, Louisiana. She married Valmond John Guitreau on April 5, 1945. They had six children: David, Carolyn, Janice, Gary, Jeanne and Danny. She loved spending time with her family especially the monthly family dinners held at her home.
She loved sitting on her swing, listening to the birds, and watching for butterflies. She spoke of her husband often and whenever she saw a butterfly, she would say it was a miracle; insisting it was a sign from him. She would reminisce of the times they would dance to their favorite song, Hello Josephine. Anyone who entered her home would have to answer, "Why did the chicken cross the road?" She enjoyed telling jokes and singing old nursery rhymes. She spent the latter years of her life sitting in her chair doing Word Search puzzles and watching her favorite show, Wheel of Fortune. Until the final four months prior to her 101st birthday, she did almost everything on her own. Pearl would consider her greatest achievement to be her children. From the time of their father's death in 1991 until today, they have cared for her without complaint and for the most part without argument, each doing their share to see that all her needs were met. When Pearl was in skilled nursing after her recent fall, she wasn't amenable to physical therapy treatment. When asked "Don't you want to improve your mobility so you can assist yourself?", she replied, "I don't need to, I've got six kids to help me!" A glimpse into her sense of humor. She was a very sweet person who was always smiling or laughing. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her, but none more than her children. A special thanks to Pinnacle Hospice for the care they gave Pearl during her final days.
Pearl is survived by her children, David Guitreau (Trina), Carolyn Keller (Charles Lasseigne), Janice Gautreau (Darryl), Gary Guitreau, Jeanne Peytavin (Steve), and Danny Guitreau (Phyllis); grandchildren, Glenn Guitreau (Tammy), Donny Guitreau (Mia), Joseph Keller III, Jarrod Keller (Nikki), Jeremy Keller (Dawn), Ali Acklin (Gary), Lyndsey Doria (Bruno), Joshua Dencausse (Courtney) and Jessica Henderson (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Brayden Guitreau, Brycen Guitreau, Joseph Keller IV, Aaron Keller, Seth Acklin (Caroline), Sage Acklin, Christian Dencausse, Anna Dencausse, Nathan Henderson and Alex Henderson; step-grandchildren, Corey Daigle, Taren Daigle, Halen Peytavin, William Peytavin (Lindsay), Charles Peytavin, Grace Kenney and Max Kenney; step-great grandchildren, Dax Daigle, Dash Daigle, Isabella Daigle, Andrew Daigle, Ensley Dispenza, Jacob Peytavin, Liam Peytavin, and Noah Peytavin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
