Listen to Obituary

Paula was born in Weimar, TX to Paul and Agnes Latham Hendrick. She moved around often in her childhood as her father worked in the oil business all over Texas and Louisiana following his service in World War II. She was a good student and good friend. She graduated from Breaux Bridge High School in 1968 where she was voted Miss Breaux Bridge High. Paula went to Nicholls State University to join the cheer team, then attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana.

She had two children with her former husband Robert “Rocky” Angelle Finley: Cynthia “Ceci” Finley Waguespack (Eric Waguespack) and Brandon Paul Finley (Leslie Lalande Finley). She is also survived by five grandchildren: Joseph Michael Waguespack, Angelle Agnes Waguespack, Cecile Marie Waguespack, Charlotte Renee Waguespack and Luke Winn Finley.

Paula worked in advertising and marketing in the Acadiana area for many years, starting out at the Lipstate agency, having her own agency, Communication Concepts, and eventually becoming a marketing consultant with many clients she enjoyed and to whom she grew very close. She won awards from the Acadiana Advertising Federation and served as its president. She volunteered with the Big Buddy Program, the Louisiana Military Hall of Fame and Museum and the St. Martin Council on Aging.

Paula had lifelong friendships and attended many girls’ lunches and weekends, cooking, crafting and visiting with the friends she treasured. She loved going to the beach—Alabama, Florida, Cancun, Hawaii, any beach. She loved to travel, visiting states as far away as Alaska, as well as Great Britain, France and Canada.

She had a great joie de vivre and will be sorely missed by friends and family.
