Patti G Cross

Patti Gibbens Cross passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2024, surrounded by family.  Patti was a resident of St. Gabriel, born September 1, 1950 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Gloria Bajon Gibbens and Roy Gibbens. She was her family’s greatest prayer warrior, devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church.  Patti was a homemaker who previously worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles but was most proud of her accomplishments as an assistant librarian at the St. Jude School where she was able to help start the school newspaper and birthday bulletin board for the students.  Patti was a wonderful mother to her four children, an adoring grandmother and aunt.  She loved reading, gardening, scrapbooking, camping, and caring for her animals, although her greatest joy was spending time with family.  

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years William Laneheart Cross, brother Steve Gibbens and parents Roy & Gloria. 

Patti is survived by her sister Terri Gibbens Barksdale, her four children Laura Cross, Daniel Cross, Mandy Purpera, Jeffrey Cross, and their spouses Olivia, Johnathon and Mike, her grandchildren Amelia, Abigail and Ivy Cross and numerous nieces and nephews.  

She will be greatly missed and forever remembered as a wonderful wife, Mom, Meema, and Nanny. 

Visitation will take place at St. Jude Catholic Church on June 6, 2024, at 10:00am with Mass at 11:00am.  Burial to follow at St. George Catholic Church Mausoleum.
