Patrick Brent Pruyn, a devoted family man and a proud patriot, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at Ochsner Medical Center O'Neal Campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on March 16, 1958, in Baton Rouge, Patrick's life was marked by dedication, honor, and a steadfast commitment to both his career and his loved ones.
A proud graduate of Baker High School in 1976, Patrick furthered his education at Spencer College of Business in Baton Rouge. He earned his degree in computer programming in 1985 with full honors, exemplifying his diligence and intellect. His professional journey was distinguished by nearly three decades of service with Waskey Bridges in Baton Rouge, where he retired in late 2025 after 29 years of committed work. His colleagues and community alike respected him for his strong work ethic and unyielding patriotism.
Patrick’s devotion extended beyond his career to his personal interests and family life. He was an avid chess player and enjoyed tennis, activities that reflected his thoughtful and strategic nature. Above all, he treasured spending time with his grandchildren, cherishing those moments that brought joy and connection to his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Brenda Lea Pruyn, who stood by his side through every chapter of their lives. Patrick’s legacy continues through his sons, Aaron Pruyn and his wife Janelle, and Andrew Pruyn and his wife Desi, who carry forward his values and spirit. Among his siblings, Marc Pruyn and his wife Yuelian, as well as Merlilu Pruyn, remember him with deep affection. Patrick’s love for his grandchildren—Kaleb, Desirae, Aaliya and her spouse Tristan, Destiny, Bentley, Rhaelynn, Levi, Samuel, Starlit, Zion, and Gabriel—remains a testament to the impact he had on his family’s lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Iris Pruyn, whose memories he held dear. The family also mourns the loss of his grandson, Elijah Pruyn, and remembers his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Royce and Vida Mae Longmire.
Patrick Brent Pruyn’s life was a beacon of loyalty, integrity, and heartfelt devotion to those he loved. His memory endures in the hearts of his family and friends, who celebrate a life well-lived and a man deeply cherished.
A ceremony celebrating the life of Patrick will be held on Thursday April 16, 2026, at First Pentecostal Church Denham Springs, visitation will begin at 9:30 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Graveside service will follow at Kirkwood Family Cemetery Zachary.
