Donald Joseph Guidry, Jr., affectionately known to many as “NuNu,” passed away on July 29, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on May 31, 1958, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Donald lived a life that touched many through his warmth, kindness, and infectious sense of humor.
Throughout his life, Donald was known for his extraordinary talents as a mechanic. His skills extended beyond the mechanics of automobiles, for he was also gifted in painting cars—a talent that gained him respect from friends and colleagues alike. Donald’s fascination with working on cars was more than a career; it was a true passion that stayed with him throughout his life, a joy reflected in every project he undertook.
He was a man blessed with a lively sense of humor and a good-hearted nature. Fun-loving, genuinely liked and loved by everyone who knew him, Donald’s presence lit up every gathering. His laughter brought joy to others, and his spirit uplifted those fortunate enough to call him friend or family. He will be fondly remembered for his ability to make others smile and for an open-hearted generosity that touched many lives.
Donald is survived by his loving brothers, Randy P. Guidry (Mavis) and Anthony James Guidry (Sophie). He leaves behind his sons, Scottie James Guidry (Terrilynn) and Joseph Wayne Guidry, who will continue to honor his legacy. He is also cherished by his grandchildren and numerous other family members, all of whom were a source of great pride and joy for him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Donald Joseph Guidry, III; his father, Donald Guidry; his mother, Maddie Lou Guidry; his sister, Peggy Lynn Guidry; mother of his children Martha Jane Guidry; and his step-mother, Hazel V. Guidry. Their memories remain intertwined with Donald’s, as part of the remarkable story of his life.
The many people whose lives were brightened by NuNu’s laughter, kindness, and skill will forever remember him. Donald’s legacy is found in the relationships he built, the lives he improved, and the happiness he gave so freely.
