Myles “Nookie” Chauvin, age 84, was born on August 11, a native of Edgard, died peacefully at home on January 5, 2024.

 

He was a devoted husband, father, & grandfather; a Veteran of the U.S. Army; retired employee of E.I. Dupont de Nemour in Laplace after 30 years; a member of the Cajun French Music Association; and a member of Woodmen of the World since 1956.  He enjoyed “makin’ garden”, sharing and caring for his neighbors, cutting grass, riding his grandchildren and great-grandchildren on his tractor, and dancing with his bride to Cajun and Zydeco music.   

 

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda, and their children Janelle (Calvin) Folse, Pamela (Roland) Stein, and Guy (Cindy) Chauvin; 10 grandchildren Cord Folse (Jenna), Brandi Frey (Ryan), Courtney Moses (Billy), Sara LeDoux (Garrett), Jacob Stein, Joshua Chauvin (Seleste), Benjamin Chauvin (Chandler), Hannah Smith (Nicholas), David Chauvin and JohnPaul Chauvin and 11 great grandchildren Rhyker, Dahlia, Palmer, Patrick, Elizabeth, Caleb, Emmett, Thomas, Jude, Ava, Micah.  Also, siblings Bertha Demarche, Ray Chauvin (Christine), Paulette Amedee, sister-in-law Winnie Chauvin, sister-in-law Kathleen Chauvin, and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

He is preceded in death by his parents Philip and Esperance Leroux Chauvin, siblings Amelie Kaupp (Calvin), Eugene Chauvin (Audrey), Ivy Chauvin Sr. (Shirley), Philip Chauvin Jr., Verline Pellegrin (Francis), Raymond Chauvin (Peanut), and brothers-in-law Ronnie Demarche and Nolan Amedee. 

Visitation will take place Friday, January 12, 2024, beginning at 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Phillip Catholic Church in Vacherie, LA. Interment will follow in the church mausoleum.

The family expresses their heartfelt appreciation to family members and friends for being there and special thanks to the staff of Haydel Hospice and caregivers JamesEtta Ross, Patrice Cayette and Hazel Jackson.
