Monica Gautreaux Lanclos, born on September 29, 1954, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, peacefully rested from this life at home in Gonzales, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family and friends on May 18, 2025. She was admired for her deep spirituality and often inspired those around her with her guiding mantra, "The Golden Rule." She was one of sixteen children.

Monica's passions were varied and vibrant; she was a devoted lover of nature, finding joy in flowers, birds, and butterflies. Her enthusiasm extended to collecting rocks and insects, demonstrating her keen interest in the small wonders of the natural world. A talented artist at heart, she enjoyed expressing herself through coloring and was also an avid participant in board games and puzzles. Additionally, she possessed a notable fondness for the gameshow Jeopardy, where her love for knowledge and trivia shone brightly.

Her proudest accomplishments embraced her roles as a devoted wife, caring mother, affectionate grandmother, and cherished sister. Monica's family was her world, and she held them close to her heart. She is survived by her beloved husband, Dennis R. Lanclos, her children: Christian Lambert and Melody Abbess, who is married to Kenny. Her grandchildren—Katelynn Thibodaux (Ethan), Kristin Lambert, Andrew Abbess (Tori), and Lindsey Abbess (Tristun), greatgrandchildren Sunny Fife, Emersyn, and Beckett Thibodaux—brought her immense joy and pride.

Monica shared a special bond with her siblings: Alex Painter, Merle, Richard, Mackie, Steve, Bradley, Francis (Cynthia), Mark (Tammy) Gautreaux, Janice Terrell, Valerie Lobell, and Andrea (Steve) LaCarbo . She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who adored her spirit and warmth.

Monica is preceded in death by her parents, John "Yep" and Mildred Hebert Gautreaux, siblings Agnes Berteau, Juanita "Poppy" Fink, Claire Ann Gautreaux, Lynda Lambert, and Eugene and Winthrop "Tussy" Gautreaux, along with several nieces and nephews.

Her legacy is marked by an unwavering love for her family and a remarkable zest for life. Monica will be remembered fondly by all whose lives she touched.
